CBM formula and limitations

CBM is the geometric volume in cubic metres. The calculator keeps full floating-point precision during calculation and rounds only displayed values.

Formula

For each carton type: length × width × height × quantity. Dimensions are converted to metres before multiplication. Shipment CBM is the sum of every carton type. Cubic feet use 35.31466672148859 ft³ per m³.

What dimensions to enter

Use the packed outer dimensions, not product dimensions. Keep one unit system throughout a calculation. Switching the selector converts the displayed dimensions so the represented physical size stays the same.

What CBM does not decide

CBM does not account for pallet voids, nesting, irregular shapes, compression, carrier minimums, booking units, dimensional weight, rounding rules, or actual space accepted by a carrier. Confirm booking and billing rules with the provider.

Privacy

Carton names, dimensions, quantities, and results remain in browser memory. This page has no account, upload endpoint, database, or advertising script. Optional page-level Cloudflare analytics never receives carton inputs or results from this application.
