Method, sources, and limitations

The planner returns a deterministic, explainable candidate—not a mathematically proven optimum or a loading safety approval.

Calculation method

  1. Cartons remain upright; the two permitted base orientations are compared.
  2. Carton height and the presented base width are checked against the door opening.
  3. Each layer contains one SKU and uses its best supported grid or row-banded pattern.
  4. Height, cargo weight, priority, layer count, no-load-above, and user-supplied supported-weight limits are applied.
  5. Unallocated quantities continue into additional containers until complete, blocked, or resource-limited.

Door-opening check

When base rotation is allowed, the shorter base edge may be presented to the door. When rotation is disabled, the entered carton width is checked. This is only a rectangular clearance check; it does not model handling equipment, turning space, packaging deformation, door hardware, or a real insertion path.

Dimension presets

The presets use conservative minimum internal and door-opening dimensions published in Hapag-Lloyd's container specification for ISO general-purpose containers. The source warns that actual equipment varies by manufacturer and that fleet values are examples. Therefore the calculator does not infer a universal payload from a container name.

Views and printing

The top view uses the exact coordinates returned for the selected layer. The side view projects all layers along container width, so cartons at different depths may overlap visually. The print plan includes every container and layer.

Manual layer review

A carton in the selected layer can be moved or assigned another permitted base orientation. Each edit is rejected if it crosses the internal footprint, overlaps another carton, or violates the SKU rotation setting. The top view, projected side view, and print report use accepted coordinates.

Edits never change the layer, carton count, height, weight, door decision, or stacking relationship and are cleared when the plan is recalculated. This is a local geometric review aid, not a new optimization or loading approval.

Not modeled

The beta does not prove global optimality, mixed-SKU support within a layer, floor point loads, axle or chassis limits, center of gravity, lashing, blocking, bracing, dangerous-goods segregation, airflow, moisture, compression strength, or legal compliance. Verify the assigned container, CSC plate, carrier rules, warehouse process, and final securing plan.

Privacy

Inputs, CSV files, calculations, and print views remain in the browser. There is no account, database, upload endpoint, or advertising script. Optional page-level Cloudflare analytics never receives container inputs, imported files, or results from this application.
